About This Video

There are so many tools available for us students now—apps, databases, learning management systems, and a million devices—so I wanted to show you exactly how I use my iPad as my study companion. I’ve been using an iPad since high school and I’m now a senior in college, so I’ve really figured out what actually matters (and what doesn’t). Quick reminder: you don’t need the latest Apple iPad for this to work. I personally use the 12.9" M1 iPad Pro because I’m heavy on graphics and editing, but the ā€œbestā€ iPad is the one that fits your workflow and budget. In this video, I walk you through my setup (Apple Pencil + a wireless Bluetooth keyboard that basically turns my iPad into a portable laptop), then the core ways I use it for school: digital note-taking, handwritten notes in GoodNotes when needed, and annotating textbooks, journal articles, and presentations. I also share how I use my iPad as a second display when I’m drowning in tabs while writing papers, plus my flashcard system with Anki—creating cards on my laptop (image occlusion) and reviewing on my iPad because it’s the perfect size and super portable. And because I’m trying to be holistic, I also talk about how I use my iPad for reading (Apple Books), creativity (Procreate for lab reports, infographics, and microscopic observations), and minimal entertainment (just Netflix and YouTube) so my device stays a productivity tool—not a distraction machine.
