About This Video

I still have all of my high school notes—from math (calculus), physics, chem, bio, even old worksheets—and I’m telling you right now: do not throw yours away. Even after graduating from college, I kept mine because I didn’t realize how valuable they’d be until I was actually in college and my professors started skipping the “basic” parts I thought they would explain. In college, don’t expect lessons to be taught from scratch. Professors often assume you already know the fundamentals, and they’ll move faster, jump straight into complex concepts, and expect you to read the textbook, do your own research, and connect topics on your own. Sometimes they won’t even tell you what to prepare beyond handing you the syllabus. That’s exactly where high school notes come in: your teachers back then walked you through everything slowly, checked in, and explained concepts in a way your younger self could understand. When college textbooks get super technical and overwhelming, I can look back at my high school notes for the simplest explanation—without spending hours searching online and still feeling confused. If you’re in junior high or senior high, keep your notes. Future you will thank you.
