About This Video

I know, I know—this video has been long overdue. Since I posted part 1 of my digital note-taking system, I’ve gotten so many messages asking how to actually use my note-taking template in Google Docs, so in this video I finally walk you through my full process step-by-step. I break my workflow into three phases—recording, building, and reviewing—so you can take notes that are easy to study from and easy to navigate later. I show you how to correctly use the template (without requesting edit access), how to make your own copy, and how I personalize the header/footer, color scheme, borders, and headings so everything shows up cleanly in the Google Docs outline. I also explain why I usually do one document per lesson (because 10–15 pages is normal for me), plus how to use section breaks if you prefer one big file. Then I share my Google Docs tips: outlines vs. table of contents, bookmarks for jumping between terms, voice typing for online lectures, building blocks to reuse formatted headings, and dropdowns for tracking progress in group work (or even as a review tracker).
