When we set goals we are working towards personal development, self improvement, and investing in ourselves and our family. We need to be proactive, rather than reactive throughout the year, so setting goals and evaluating them, creates accountability and allows us to have a clear concept of our goals increasing our intrinsic motivation and self development. When we work together to set goals we are more inclined to empathize with each other’s ideas. It allows everyone’s voice to be heard. If you want to know how to be successful, good planning for the future with achievable goals is crucial. We share life tips, life hacks, and our process to set goals and achieve them through our annual planning system and goal setting plan. Our Annual Goal Setting Tool consists of three copies, one for yourself, one for your spouse, and one for your family as whole. The idea is that you work through one of the copies for yourself, set time to come together, share some of your personal goals and then work through the last copy for your family goals. Once we finish this, we choose the top 3 goals that we want to focus on throughout next year. One of our favorite parts is picking the WORD OF THE YEAR! We choose a specific word for the year, one that will be a consistent theme for us. We also like to plaster this word in a highly visible location, so that we are reminded each day what our goal is. Some of ours in previous years have been Perseverance, Raising Arrows, Cherish Every Moment, and Grace. We also take a look at other items for the upcoming year and set budgets for them. We set a budget for birthdays, anniversary, Easter and Christmas gifts throughout the year. We create a plan for Vacations that we would like to take in the next year , including an overall budget and time of year. Set milestones and meet quarterly to hold yourself and others accountable!
