BIG NEWS I Just Retired Early At Age 38! | FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

We just achieved financial freedom and early retirement at 38, before age 40! We joined the fire movement 9 years ago and strived for financial independence. I have spent the last 15 years working 9-5, that’s 31,200 hours or 1,872,000 minutes dreaming of a day that I would become a millionaire and be able to retire early. We spent years learning about personal finance and retirement planning. In this video, I’ll explain WHY I wanted to do this, the good, the bad, and our future plans. Why? ♦ Spend more time quality time with our 3 beautiful children ♦ Spend time with my parents now that they are also in retirement ♦ More freedom to pursue things that I am passionate about ♦ Ability to spend more meaningful time doing fun things ♦ Empower others to achieve financial independence and retire early or F.I.R.E. Kevin O’Leary said it best “A salary is the drug they give you to make you forget about your dreams” I wanted to prove that becoming a millionaire and retiring by 40 was possible on a $75K salary with 3 kids. The GOOD The day I retired, I instantly felt a weight off my shoulders from all of my previous work related responsibilities & timelines. I have been able to focus on the aspects of my life that are truly important to me. And I am excited about the future with my family. We were able to get better, cheaper healthcare coverage. I have a Renewed focus on my overall fitness and health and now I have Total control of my schedule A big advantage of retiring early, is that I was Able to rollover my 401K into an IRA, and invest in a wide variety of assets, not just a handful of mutual funds I also have More time to focus on diversifying our investments I can see an instant change in Jerad's daily mood and he seems rejuvenated from having the daily pressure of work on his shoulders. More interactions throughout the day with the kids. Simple as going on midday walks with us, or going to the pool with us before lunch. Freedom for Jerad to not miss out on the little moments throughout the day. Opportunity for us to work as a team on tasks around the house. The BAD While there are so many great aspects about leaving your day job and retiring early, there are also some negatives. Income stream is less stable. Budget and cost of living is more critical Definitely nervous and scared of the unknown without having a stable income like Jerad said. I have to learn to sacrifice on some of the “extra” things that aren’t a necessity in our life. Our budget now becomes the priority and making sure that our money is being spent in the ways that enhance our family’s life. We have to be more strategic with our time. The fire journey has just begun for us.
