I break down Kontakt 7 (paid) vs Kontakt Player (free), and the key difference is simple: Kontakt 7 will play basically any NKI/NKS library, while Kontakt Player only runs specific licensed libraries (you’ll see the badge in the product description). Then I show you the two main ways to run Kontakt inside your DAW: SINGLE mode (one instrument per instance—super easy to manage) and MULTI mode (multiple instruments in one instance—better for saving resources if you’re loading a lot of instruments). I also go over the browser vs library view, why the keyboard map is crucial (especially if you don’t have an 88-key controller), and how different libraries map loops/articulations.
