About This Video

What’s going on everybody—today I’m out LEGO shopping at my local Walmart, and this almost never happens: I found a completely untouched LEGO CMF Series 28 box (the animal costume series) sitting behind the glass. That’s basically the best-case scenario if you’re trying to collect the whole set, so I grabbed what I needed and used the Mini Scan app to verify what was inside. Gone are the days of feeling bags—now you scan the QR code on the bottom and it tells you the figure. It’s not a sponsor, it’s just an app I’ve used before and it’s always had a great hit rate for me. Back at home, I open everything up to confirm I actually pulled all 12, then I do a full review of each character—goldfish, cat, Dalmatian, peacock, koala, chimp, lion, “crocodile,” parrot, dolphin, bunny, and frog—breaking down the molds, dual-molding, accessories, and where LEGO did (and didn’t) give us printing. Overall, I think this is a weaker CMF series: a bunch of the bottom-tier ones feel pretty plain with minimal leg printing. My top contenders are the parrot (my favorite) and the peacock right behind it, and I also talk about why I grabbed an extra Dalmatian for a potential “The Spot” upgrade. If you see an untouched box, I also explain the simple counting trick—there are three of each figure in the case.
