Today, in honor of spooky season, I did a quick build and review of the LEGO Halloween Pumpkin (40697) and then dropped it right into my “ultimate” Halloween display as the centerpiece. This one’s a 2024 gift-with-purchase set with 254 pieces, so you’re not getting a massive build, but you are getting a really fun little project with a ton of orange, yellow, and green—exactly what I want for a seasonal display. The build is pretty straightforward, with a lot of those rounded orange slope pieces repeating around the sides to nail that jack-o’-lantern shape, plus a little ghost floating on a transparent pole piece behind it. The main feature is the light brick inside. You press down on the stem to light it up, and you do have to hold it for it to stay on, but it looks awesome in the dark and helps sell the whole scene. Halfway through the instructions you can choose between a friendly face or a spookier face—I went spooky—and the face ended up being a little more intricate than I expected (in a good way). Once it was finished, I showed the full Halloween setup lit up with all my spooky characters, and the pumpkin up front really ties the whole display together.
