MILS plates are one of the best ways to level up your LEGO layouts 🧱 In this video, we walk through how to build a MILS plate step by step, showing the parts you need, how it’s constructed, and why it’s such a game changer for modular LEGO cities and displays. MILS (Modular Integrated Landscape System) lets you create a strong, consistent base that makes it easy to rearrange sections, add elevation, and run things like wiring or train tracks underneath. 🔧 In This Video: 🧱 What a MILS plate is and why people use them 📏 Standard MILS dimensions and layout 🔨 Step-by-step build process 🏙️ How we use MILS in our LEGO City Whether you’re starting a new LEGO City or upgrading an existing layout, MILS plates make everything cleaner, stronger, and easier to change over time. 🚙 How to Build a LEGO MILS Road Plate https://youtu.be/Q9iXJBVn6Y0 ⤴️ How to Build a LEGO MILS Curve Road Plate https://youtu.be/BSXjDHg4ox4 🧼 How to Clean your LEGO https://youtu.be/3EKIj5DUM9M 👍 If you enjoyed this video, be sure to leave a like and subscribe! 🔔 Subscribe for awesome new LEGO videos every week! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOMettsQdvrut0U6a-PfzoA?sub_confirmation=1 📦 Check out our Amazon Affiliate link for suggestions! https://amzn.to/43HsiFe (any sales help me out!) - 🧱 LEGO Videos Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVQhk1p_FiQ&list=PLxLRPIexnk5w_JJ8MGbop2LJfrUsV1A8i 💥 LEGO Shopping Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjgq-GrFyHc&list=PLxLRPIexnk5xgBowJfM9DiGHu_piCoIAw&index=4 🏡 LEGO City Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVQhk1p_FiQ&list=PLxLRPIexnk5yetjnAHCaTPFNzHsdz8SeV 🚘 LEGO Speed Builds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtuK06C2Wso&list=PLxLRPIexnk5yiqEo1idO0kjRxvAxaGmv4 📲 LEGO Shorts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNflOoufB70&list=PLxLRPIexnk5zKyh7Np_Bx4xZnsjnR1E-Y&index=2 - Subscribe on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOMettsQdvrut0U6a-PfzoA Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/oldmountainbricks/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/oldmountainbricks Threads - https://www.threads.net/oldmountainbricks X/Twitter - https://twitter.com/OldMtBricks Contact us: oldmountainbricks(at)gmail.com Link Tree - https://linktr.ee/oldmountain I am NOT sponsored by The LEGO Group or Bricks and Minifigs for this video. About This Video

Welcome in to Old Mountain Bricks everybody. In this video I walk you through what a LEGO MILS plate is (Modular Integrated Landscaping System) and why I use it all over my LEGO City. The big reason is simple: regular 32x32 baseplates flex. Once you start stacking real weight—like modular buildings—things can slip, slide, and you’re one bad move away from a catastrophe when you transport or pick up a section. With a MILS plate, you go from bendy to rock solid. I show my step-by-step method using a standard 32x32 baseplate, a bunch of 2x4 and 2x2 bricks for the “underlying brick,” and then plates on top—my easiest approach is using 16x6 plates to save pieces. I outline the border, reinforce corners, add the main supports, then build that classic “plus/cross” support through the middle so the top plates have tons of contact points. I also show how to adjust if you’re using smaller plates like 6x8s or 4x4s—sometimes you just need to add a few extra bricks where contact points are missing. By the end, you’ve got the standard MILS height (a brick and one plate), a base you can actually lift one-handed, and a layout system that makes modular city sections cleaner, stronger, and easier to change over time.
