Today’s LEGO City update was a big one, because it was finally time to place a brand-new modular building into the layout: the Grand Emporium. Modulars are the bread and butter of my city, so adding one is always a huge moment—and this one instantly changes the look of the street. I walked through the “exclusive real estate” problem we all run into, tested a few possible spots, and ultimately landed on the corner placement for now. I also rotated the billboard (it pains me to do that kind of stuff) so you can actually see it from the main viewing angles. Along the way, I worked a few recently reviewed sets into the city too—like the Toy Story RC with Woody and Buzz, plus the BrickLink Popcorn Wagon. The popcorn wagon took some trial and error (and a hard “no” on one spot because of a structural brick and awkward height), but I found a placement that helps transition from the modular block into the nature area. I also showed a small used LEGO haul from McKay’s—mostly bricks for future MILS plating and terrain detail—and then celebrated the new modular by firing up the train… after it immediately hit something on the tracks (Stitch was fine). Overall, the city’s coming along, but I’m already running out of room, so expanding the table is definitely on the list.
