Today I’m out in Salamanca, New York checking out a brand-new used LEGO shop called Bricks & Bits, and I wanted to show you exactly what a local store like this can look like when it’s packed wall-to-wall with fun stuff. I walk through the displays, the minifigure cases, the Star Wars section (which is definitely popular here), and even some really cool ideas like renting a baseplate to build in-store, a pick-a-brick wall, and those glass “LEGO jar” art pieces that people have been grabbing. They’ve only been open about a month, so it was awesome seeing the collection already growing—and I really liked that the owner, Jonathan, was super friendly and willing to make deals. After the store overview, I bring you home with me for a haul breakdown. The big pickup for me was the Pickup & Caravan set from 2018—one that’s been on my “to-get” list, and it’s going straight into my nature area after I clean it up and rebuild it. I also grabbed a handful of spooky-season-ready minifigures, including Pharaoh Hotep (I’m a huge Adventurers fan), the Turkey Costume Guy, Abby Yates from the 2016 Ghostbusters set, and the Flying Mummy from Vero’s Quest. If you’re anywhere near Salamanca, this is the kind of local LEGO spot worth supporting.
