About This Video

It’s high time I channeled my inner Tool Man and just talked straight about the beginner tools that actually move the needle when you’re trying to start building dioramas, mini sets, and displays. In this video I run through my honorable mentions and then my five essentials—stuff that keeps you safer, cleaner, more accurate, and way less frustrated when you’re cutting, fitting, and gluing tiny parts together. My whole goal here is to help you build confidence fast. I’m not telling you to buy a thousand gadgets—I’m pointing you at the basics I reach for constantly: an apron to keep the chaos under control, a mini mitre box for clean repeatable cuts, jewelry pliers for grabbing and bending the small stuff, sewing pins for quick positioning and temporary holds, and a metal ruler for measuring and guiding cuts. I also talk about the kind of box cutter/knife I like because, honestly, clean cuts are half the battle in miniature work. If you’re just getting started, these are the tools that help your builds look sharper without making the hobby feel overwhelming.
