Hi everybody—I’m Nicki, and in this video I’m diving into two elegant texture techniques that I honestly use all the time. If you know my videos, you know I love embossing folders, so yes… we’re using one. But we’re also bringing in BetterPress techniques and a little ink blending so you can get that soft, refined dimension that feels extra special (especially for sympathy cards, thinking of you cards, and other meaningful occasions). This is a cut-down replay from a live class, so you get all the good stuff without the wait time. First up, I stencil big, beautiful roses (and I’ll walk you through how I keep layered stencils from shifting—especially those skinny little protruding bits that love to lift up). I also share how I pick calm, “vintage purple” and sagey green palettes, and why stencils are basically the best thing ever if you want to look like an expert colorist (because… I need the help). Then I take that finished stenciled panel and run it through a geometric embossing folder—yes, after all that work—and I’ll show you exactly how I line it up so you don’t ruin your panel. From there, I move into BetterPress texture ideas and quick, polished sentiment strips, using monochromatic cardstock + a slightly darker ink for that subtle, elevated look. My goal is always the same: more time making, less time fussing—and these textures deliver every single time.
