In this video I’m breaking down how I find models to model for your brand—whether you’re building a hair care line, skin care, cosmetics, or even fashion. I’m sharing what I’ve done from experience, including how I’ve gotten models to work with me for free, and how to think about compensation when you’re a small business but you still want quality lifestyle content for your website and social media. And yes—before you go searching everywhere, I always say start with the easiest model: you. But I also know everybody doesn’t want to be the face of their brand, so I’m giving you options. My biggest tip is to get on Facebook and join local “Time For Print” (TFP) groups. Those groups are full of models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists—people who collaborate so everyone gets something out of the shoot. I also go over the real pros and cons, because with TFP you have to remember: you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit. The vision can clash, so I recommend using a Pinterest mood board, being super clear about your concept, and making it “artsy” enough that creatives want to collaborate. I also show you how I find models on Instagram (like searching “Seattle models” or “Seattle curly hair models”), and I remind you that your models don’t have to be professionals. If you can organize the date/time and have a plan, you really only need 2–4 models to get a strong set of brand photos.
