Marley twists are easily one of my favorite protective styles (right after mini twists) because they’re easy to install, easy to take out, and they always give that cute, natural look. Since I’ve been doing this style for over 10 years, I’ve tried a lot of different brands—and I’m finally sharing the three I keep running into, plus the one I actually swear by. I compare texture, thickness, how the hair behaves while you’re twisting, shedding, and even how well it curls at the ends. I talk through the super popular Cuban Twist (thick, accessible, but rough and drying), a Janet Collection option (soft but too thin and tangly), and my tried-and-true favorite: Jamaican Twist Braid by FreeTress/Equal. I also give you my real disclaimer—Marley twist styles can be drying no matter what, so I don’t recommend leaving them in longer than 3–4 weeks, especially if you have fine natural hair like me.
