About This Video

Mini twist season is back, and this time I switched it up and installed my mini twists on WET hair instead of my usual blow-dried, stretched method. I wanted to see what would happen on my fine, thin natural strands—how the twists would look, how long it would take, and whether the wet method would give me that ā€œplumped upā€ fuller look quicker. I walk you through the products I kept it to (because less is more for fine hair), how I started each twist with a braid, and what I noticed right away: more shrinkage, curlier ends, and a messier process overall. Real talk: wet mini twists took me longer than dry stretched twists. I was an hour and a half in and only had the back done, and I learned (again) why brick parting matters—because one sleepy section had my twists looking spacious and thin. By the end, I had a finished look, but I’m being honest: I don’t love fresh mini twists on me for the first couple days. I like them better as they frizz up and get bigger (fine hair problems). My biggest takeaway is mini twists are cute, but they are not a ā€œthrow in and forgetā€ protective style—especially if you have fine natural hair. You have to watch for matting at the roots, tangles/knots, unraveling, and keep your ends moisturized since they rub on clothes and dry out.
