He called it Chop Soy. It's Bok Choy, Trevor. After 2 years eating the best food in the Philippines on his LDS mission in Urdaneta, Philippines. Trevor thought he could handle making authentic Sinigang from scratch — in a Utah apartment — with his wife Emmie who has never touched an okra in her life. Spoiler: it did not go perfectly. We drove to the Asian market, hunted down every ingredient (some with the wrong name), got emotionally ambushed by the snack aisle, had a minor breakdown at the register when we saw Utah prices, and somehow ended up with an actual pot of Sinigang on the stove. The verdict? Trevor cried (almost). Emmie ate the chicken and the rice and left the okra completely alone. This is what happens when the Philippines meets Utah.
