What happens when a British family tries a 1700s American drink made with… VINEGAR?! 😳🇺🇸 We honestly didn’t know whether this was going to be a hidden American gem… or completely outrageous. Today we’re making Switchel (Haymaker’s Punch) — a drink that dates all the way back to early American farmers, who used it to stay cool, hydrated, and energised while working long days in the fields. But here’s the twist… 👉 It’s made with apple cider vinegar, ginger, lemon, and maple syrup. So the real question is… does this actually taste GOOD? As a British family obsessed with American food and culture, we’ve tried some incredible dishes… but this might be one of the most unexpected things we’ve ever made. From the first sip shock… to the moment it starts to grow on us… this one took us on a journey 😅 And surprisingly… this might actually be nature’s original energy drink. What is Switchel? Switchel (also known as Haymaker’s Punch) was traditionally: Drunk by American farmers in the 1700s Shared during breaks — bringing people together Designed to hydrate, cool, and energise naturally It also has links to the Caribbean, where similar drinks were used in hot climates to stay refreshed.
