This creamy, cheesy chicken casserole is known as King Ranch Chicken, and for many families in the United States it’s a true comfort-food classic — often found at church potlucks, family gatherings, and weeknight dinners. In this video, our British family makes King Ranch Chicken Casserole from scratch and tries it for the very first time. We went in not really knowing what to expect — but what we discovered was a rich, hearty, warming dish that completely surprised us. From the creamy sauce to the corn tortillas and melted cheese, this Tex-Mex inspired chicken casserole delivers big flavour and serious comfort. King Ranch Chicken is named after the famous King Ranch in Texas — one of the largest ranches in the United States — and the dish itself was designed to feed lots of people, making it perfect for sharing. It’s simple, filling, and incredibly satisfying, which explains why so many Americans grew up eating versions of this casserole.
