What even IS Texas Caviar… and why does it have NO caviar in it?! In today’s video, we’re trying one of the most colourful and unexpected Southern dishes we’ve ever made… Cowboy Caviar, also known as Texas Caviar! This fresh Texas dip exploded in popularity across America thanks to its bold flavours, simple ingredients, and perfect BBQ party food vibes — but as Brits, we genuinely had no idea what to expect. From black-eyed peas and black beans to corn, tomatoes, cilantro, avocado, hot sauce and tortilla chips… this dish felt somewhere between a salsa, salad, dip and side dish all at once And honestly? It tasted WAY fresher and more addictive than we expected. We also learned the fascinating history behind Texas Caviar, which was first created by Helen Corbitt in Texas back in the 1940s and served at the Houston Country Club before spreading across the United States.
