🇺🇸 Brits Try “New York” Bagels in the UK… This Wasn’t What We Expected 😬 We went on a mission to find authentic New York style bagels in the UK… but what we discovered left us genuinely surprised. As a British family who’s spent years exploring American food culture, from Texas BBQ to classic deli sandwiches, we’ve learned that some dishes are all about texture, balance, and bold flavour — and few things are more iconic than a proper New York bagel. So when we found a place claiming to serve authentic New York-style bagels here in the UK… we had to put them to the test. From a brisket bagel loaded with BBQ beef and pickles, to a pastrami “New Yorker” (Reuben-style), and the classic lox bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese… we tried them all as a family — and gave our honest reactions. But the big question is… 👉 Do these actually taste like New York bagels… or not even close? 🥯 What We Tried: BBQ Brisket Bagel (with pickles, cheese & mustard) “New Yorker” Pastrami Bagel (Reuben-style with sauerkraut & Russian dressing) Lox Bagel (smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers & tomato) 🇺🇸 Our Honest Take… We’ve had incredible American food across the US — including unforgettable deli sandwiches and Reubens that set the standard. So trying to find that same authentic flavour, texture, and “chew” here in the UK is always a challenge.
