Brits Try Mexican Tacos in the UK… but can we actually find the real thing outside of Mexico? 🌮🇬🇧🇲🇽 We’ve eaten tacos before. But after visiting Mexico on our honeymoon, we realised something… What we thought was “Mexican food” in the UK wasn’t always the real deal. So when a local taco truck popped up just around the corner — run by someone who has actually been to Mexico and fallen in love with the cuisine — we had to try it. And here’s the twist… It used to be a pink ice cream truck. 🍦➡️🌮 🌮 What We Tried From this British-based Mexican taco truck, we ordered: • Cochinita pork tacos • Spicy pork tacos • Chipotle chicken tacos • Vegan five bean chili taco (with Mexican chocolate) • Loaded nachos with pork, jalapeños & fresh toppings Fresh corn tortillas. Pickled onions. Avocado purée. Lime wedges. Proper street food presentation. 🇲🇽 Real Mexican Food vs UK Mexican Food After travelling to Mexico ourselves, we realised: Authentic Mexican food is about: • Freshness • Balance • Lime & acidity • Texture • Simplicity done well So the big question was… Could a UK taco truck deliver that same authenticity? 👨‍👩‍👧 Family Taste Test Reaction We brought everything home (it was freezing outside!) and did a full family taste test. Spice levels. Freshness. Texture. Crunch from the pork crackling. Depth of flavour from chipotle. Even a Mexican chocolate mole-style bean chili. And honestly… We weren’t expecting it to be this good. 🌮 Mexican Street Food in Britain? The taco truck owner used to be an engineer before following his dream of starting a Mexican street food business. After visiting Mexico, he wanted to recreate the real flavours here in the UK.
