Today, this little British family is trying Chicken A La King for the very first time — and WOW… we were not ready for how comforting, creamy and nostalgic this classic American dish is! 🇺🇸🇬🇧 Made right here in our UK kitchen, we followed a traditional American-style recipe to recreate a dish many of you told us was part of your childhood. Chicken A La King has roots in both New York and Philadelphia, and became a beloved American comfort meal throughout the early 1900s… before fading away in the 50s–60s thanks to tinned versions like canned Chicken à la King. So today we’re bringing it BACK — from scratch! In this video, we sauté mushrooms in butter, make a rich roux, whisk in chicken broth, milk, egg yolks and cream… and finish it with peas, pimentos and tender chicken. Basically everything you’d ever want in a warm, feel-good family meal!
