There’s beer in the bread?! 🍺🍞 When we heard about American Beer Bread, we genuinely thought it couldn’t work. No yeast. No kneading. No rising time. Just a few simple ingredients… and a can of beer. But apparently, this is a proper American classic quick bread, loved across the United States for how easy and delicious it is to make. So today we’re putting it to the test for the very first time. As Brits, bread making usually means yeast, proofing, kneading, and a lot of patience. But American beer bread breaks all those rules. The carbonation in the beer helps the bread rise, creating a rustic loaf with a crispy crust and soft crumb inside. So does it really work? Can beer actually make bread rise? And more importantly… can you taste the beer? With a recipe kindly sent to us by Mel in Arizona and baked in our Lodge cast iron loaf pan, Nakita gets up early to try making this famous American quick bread while the rest of the family are still asleep. Soon the smell of fresh bread fills the house… and the sleepy taste test begins. The result genuinely surprised us. This might be one of the easiest breads we’ve ever made, and we can see why so many Americans love it.
