About This Video

In this video I talk about a genuinely unpleasant experience I had with a so-called “tarot reader” in my local community—and how fast it made me stop and re-examine my own professional tarot ethics. I walk through what felt off about the interaction, why it landed badly, and how a reading can cross lines when the reader isn’t grounded in consent, care, or basic responsibility. Even though I love tarot as a tool for reflection and self-growth, this was one of those moments that reminded me: the way we hold power in a reading matters. From there, I zoom out into what I consider non-negotiable ethics in my practice—things like not using fear as leverage, not making sweeping claims, and not treating people like problems to be fixed. I also reflect on what I want my clients (and my community) to feel when they sit with me: respected, empowered, and supported in their own agency. If you’ve ever gotten a “bad” tarot reading, or you read professionally and want to pressure-test your boundaries, this is me processing that experience out loud and turning it into something useful.
