About This Video

Hey y’all—this week was a real “welcome to travel nursing” moment for me. I kicked things off on Friday doing all my maintenance and self-care errands because I knew the schedule was about to be busy: oil change, car wash, groceries, massage (10/10, much needed), and getting myself together so I could feel cute and confident walking into a new assignment. I’m currently doing local travel (within 50 miles), so I’m still commuting, and I wanted to be as prepared as possible before jumping into five straight work days. From there, I took y’all through my weekend at my PRN med-surg job—short staffing, five to six patients, discharges without a discharge nurse on the weekend, and the kind of “it felt like a Monday” Saturday. Then it was time for my new travel assignment: unit orientation, learning the charting/supplies/codes, and getting a feel for the culture. I’m on an oncology floor now, so the patients are immunocompromised and a lot are hospice/palliative, which is heavy but also a blessing to be trusted to care for them. By the end of my last orientation shift (including my first night), I felt proud, accomplished, and honestly excited—week one of 13, and I’m ready.
