In this video I tested the YUNZII AL80 and the YUNZII X98 with quick unboxing, real typing sound tests, and my first impressions on build quality. I’ve never worked with Yunzii before, so I came into this with zero expectations—but the AL80 immediately surprised me. It’s a full aluminum board and it’s incredibly heavy, solid as a rock (I couldn’t bend it at all), and the colorway looks super clean. I also tested it without a desk mat, so keep in mind it should sound even more muted on a mat. For the AL80, I focused on the typing sound and overall feel, plus the screen/knob setup. The sound was honestly impressive—maybe a tad hollow—but still easily one of the top three sounding keyboards I’ve reviewed, especially when you factor in the aluminum build, the screen, and the knob. The LCD shows useful stuff like time/date, battery percentage, and status indicators, which is actually pretty sweet. I also noticed it looks easy to open up and add foam, so I did a quick foam mod to chase an even better sound. Then I moved to the X98 transparent 100% board (with numpad). The RGB looks wild through the clear case and the keys have a nice pop, but the spacebar sounded bad to me—kind of clicky. Overall, I break down what’s worth it, what I’d change, and which one makes more sense depending on what you want in 2026.
