About This Video

In this video, I’m swatching the new watercolors that came in from my Christmas art haul (and my birthday art haul), and I’m doing it the way I always like to: slow, curious, and super hands-on. I want to see how these colors behave on paper—how they wet in, how they dry down, what the granulation looks like (if any), and whether they feel like something I’ll actually reach for in my sketchbook. Swatching is basically my “get to know you” step before I commit a color to a painting. As I work through the new paints, I’m paying attention to practical stuff you can use too—like which colors feel punchy versus subtle, what might make a good mixing palette, and what shades I’d group together for an easy limited set. If you’re building your watercolor collection or you just love watching new supplies get tested, this is a cozy, painty session you can follow along with. And if you want more from me beyond YouTube, I also share extra ad-free videos and artwork over on my Patreon.
