Hey campers—this one was a little different for us because we didn’t have the kids or a camper behind us. It was just Brad and me sneaking in a quick couples stop in Omaha, Nebraska on our way up to Sioux City for a hosted long weekend. After driving most of the day, we stayed at the Country Inn & Suites over in Council Bluffs (so technically the Iowa side) and grabbed dinner at El Rancho—an authentic Mexican spot with amazing tacos that were rated the best tacos in Omaha, so you know we had to check it out. The next morning we hit downtown Omaha and wandered around the Old Market area before heading over to what they call a “mall,” but it’s really this huge 9.6-acre park space with slides, a pond, a big digital screen, and tons of seating. It felt super family-friendly and easy to walk, and you can tell they’ve poured a lot of money into it—there were even workers out wiping down trash cans. We wrapped up our one-day Omaha adventure at Bob the Bridge, standing in two states at once on the Missouri River, and learned it’s also tied to the Lewis and Clark Trail with a visitor center and Junior Ranger options for the kids. Omaha didn’t disappoint, and we can’t wait to come back and bring the girls along.
