Hey campers—Brad & Jess here (Miles From Missouri), and in this video we’re coming to you from our very first trip to the Carolinas as we roll into Myrtle Beach and check out Lakewood Camping Resort. We’d heard it was “the best campground on the Grand Strand,” so we did what we always do: a full drive-through style look at the property to help you get your bearings—because finding our site was a little tricky, and I want you to have better footage than we did when you’re trying to figure out where you’re going. Lakewood is huge and it’s packed with amenities: beachfront access, a water park, indoor pool, mini golf, beach volleyball, live entertainment, a general store/trading post, bath houses, laundry, coffee options (yes—two Starbucks on-site), propane refills, and more. They’ve got a ton of site types (oceanfront, lakefront, sunny, shady) with full hookups and different amp options, plus wristbands you can link to a card for easy purchases and an app that kept us updated on events and closures. We also talk honestly about the trade-offs. For our June stay, the price was on the high end for our budget (around $800–$900 for the week) and getting around is tough without a golf cart—another big added cost. Still, for a family vacation where you’ll actually use the resort, we felt it was absolutely worth it.
