Greetings from Georgetown! In this video, we’re kicking off day one of our Georgetown, Texas trip—about 30 minutes north of Austin—and we’re diving straight into what we love most: good food, a walkable downtown, and family-friendly exploring. Georgetown is the fifth oldest city in Texas, it’s on the National Register of Historic Places, and it’s home to Southwestern University and the headwaters of the San Gabriel River. Over these two days, we’re hunting down the best spots, eating authentic Texas favorites, and mixing in a little nature too. First up, we grabbed coffee and breakfast at Rivery Coffee House, a woman- and veteran-owned shop. I went Americano (because I’m plain), and Brad grabbed a caramel latte—both were rich, dark, and solid. Then we headed to the Georgetown Square (yep, “The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas”) for mural hunting and shopping before lunch at Mikey V’s Tacos on the Square. I’m telling you right now—get the Texan taco. After we let Chip out back at the camper, we returned to the square for The Baked Bear ice cream sandwiches, walked more of downtown, and wrapped the night with Christmas lights… and a Whataburger run because Missouri doesn’t get that privilege.
