We finally made it to Echo Bluff State Park in southern Missouri, and y’all… it’s awesome. This was our first time here, and we’ve always wanted to come, but it’s so popular that we could never get reservations. We just happened to catch a cancellation for the weekend and snatched it up. We rolled in late after work (around 8–8:30 in October), and I’ll be honest—the road coming in at night is hilly, windy, and narrow, so it’s doable, but it’s not a comfortable drive in the dark. In this video I give you a full overview of the park, including a complete campground drive-through tour and a closer look at our campsite (Site 6). Our site was paved and level with a picnic table, lantern ring, and fire pit, plus water and electric (no sewer, but that was totally fine for a weekend). The sites are fairly close together, so it feels a little more like an RV park than a typical state park—but it’s really nice, quiet, and has lots of open sky for stargazing. I also show the bathrooms (basic, very clean) and even highlight a super impressive walk-in primitive option—Site 11—which is handicap accessible with a concrete path and a no-step wooden platform. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay.
