About This Video

In this video I’m basically bringing a poison dart frog vivarium back from the dead. I start by walking you through what’s not working inside the tank and why a “dying” terrarium usually isn’t one big problem—it’s a bunch of little husbandry things stacking up over time. Before I touch plants or substrate, I safely catch and remove the frog so I can work without stressing it out or risking an escape. Natural lives first, always. From there it’s full-on cleanup and rebuild mode: I clear out the old interior, go plant shopping, and then rebuild the foundation with fresh substrate. I talk through how I’m thinking about drainage, planting zones, and picking plants that actually make sense for a humid dart frog setup (not just what looks cool on day one). Once everything is planted and settled, I get the enclosure looking alive again—then I add the frog back in to finish the reset. The big takeaway: routine maintenance and smart plant/substrate choices are what keep a vivarium stable long-term, not quick fixes.
