Sony is way stronger High voices - Sony ? vs Nothing? Sony is way stronger Silent environment - essentially zero white noise on both Nothing gives us multiple levels TRANSPARENCY Sony has slider - at max level, it sounds quite similar and true to life Nothing has good volume, sounds good. Both get a strong pass from me. You’re really just splitting hairs A bit more wind noise with Nothing I appreciate the Sony gives us multiple levels White noise? MIC TEST Indoors Outdoors FIT & COMFORT Nothing headphones have a strong clamp Ear cup depth Heat Softness Range of head sizes Hinge durability CONTROLS Sony = two buttons, double press, touch pad with 2 axis swipes, tap, hold, nod, and shake. Also palm coverage will allow outside sounds in Nothing controls - I love that they are distinct and in logical spots Nothing takes a second to switch between modes, also makes annoying and/or creepy sounds SOUND Nothing sound quality is pretty good, but the tuning is not quite right. Fortunately, the EQ can help a lot Nothing sounds a bit nasal and boxy. It sounds a bit like maybe the low mids or 400 - 600 Hz region is bloated They seem to lack a bit of articulation and detail in the 1k - 5k zone Bass is a bit less tight and controlled, and it seems to change quite a bit with vs without anc The tuning honestly just sounds like a miss. Sony’s sound is is quite impressive. Certainly much better than previous generations. A bit u-shaped in the tuning with emphasized highs and lows. Sony has lots of clarity, crisp highs, full but not massively overpowering lows Sony’s bass is definitely a lot punchier and less boomy but it sounds a bit like an oversharpened and overly contrasty image - fun but not quite natural. It comes as now surprise that I prefer the Sony headphones when it comes to audio here. It’s sort of expected. They are more expensive and sony has been doing this for 6 generations already plus many years before with wired headphones. Honestly, Nothing is better than I expected though considering this is their first. But I think a non-enthusiast could notice a real difference when trying these back to back EQ comparison!! Nothing sbc, aac, ldac but no lhdc like we saw on Ear (2) BATTERY Sony = 30 hrs with ANC but you can extent with ANC off Nothing = 35 hrs with ANC, 80 hrs without FEATURES Sony has no USBC playback, Nothing has it Neither has NFC pairing, both have FastPair Sony has a speak to chat feature, Nothing…?
