I test and score the headphones in 14 categories to determine which is actually the best pair of headphones to buy. This video is not sponsored. No brands have any influence over this video. I purchased about half of these, some were sent to me, and Iโ€™m borrowing one pair but I probably have 15 other pairs in my office that didnโ€™t make the cut so if your favorite headphones arenโ€™t on this list, it doesnโ€™t mean they are bad, but I had to draw the line somewhere and based on my testing, these six are the best on the market right now. ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES: ANC Test 1 - jet noise 6 - 57 JBL - still decent, but distinctly more noise coming through 5 - 58 Sennheiser sounds lower pitched. Respectable 4 - 59 Sonos - high overtones break through, low frequencies crushed better. Probably blocks more but they are perceived to block less because high overtones break through. A few years ago these would have been tied in 1st or 2nd place 3- 62AirPods takes a second to adjust to the sound. Very very good 2 - 64 Bose just barely behind Sony in this test. They trade blows depending on the exact frequency 1 - 65 Sony - pretty even blocking across frequencies. Compresses a lot ANC Test 2 - high voices 6 - JBL - vol 18, 18 = 18 5 - Sonos - vol 24, 18 = 21 4 - Sennheiser - vol 20, 24 = 22 3 - Airpods - vol 22, 24 = 23 1 - Bose - vol 24, 28 = 26 1 - Sony - vol 28, 24 = 26 TRANSPARENCY 6 - Sennheiser - hissing, adjustable levels, not natural 5 - JBL - a little hissing, mostly natural, correct volume, major cupping sound 4 - Sonos - too much amplification of high frequencies like rubbing clothing, minimal white noise, volume a tad low 3 - Sony - a bit too much emphasis on small sounds like keyboard or jeans rubbing, minimal hissing, natural sounding 2 - Bose - some white noise, otherwise very natural sounding 1 - AirPods. Gold standard. Also, Airpods have loud sound reduction CONTROLS 6 - Bose - volume touch slider, touch it to open spotify or voice assistant, button to toggle connections and power on/off, button to play/pause/skip/change modes 5 - Sonos - up/down & press for controls, clean & intuitive. Plus button for ANC and another for power. Hold for assistant. I actually really like this but it just doesnโ€™t have as much as the others 4 - AirPods - rotating crown button and ANC button. No power button. nod/shake for Siri interaction and calls, Siri controls. Zero customization 3 - JBL - has smart unit for extra controls! Also touch pad on right earcup for 1/2/3/hold, volume buttons on left, anc button & power switch on right. Not really customizable 2 - Sennheiser - only one button on the whole thing, touchpad lets you swipe up/down for volume, right/left for track selection, pinch in/out for anc/transparency, swipe forward/back and hold for fast forward or rewind, tap to play/pause, double tap to toggle anc/transparency - Honestly pretty clean. Takes some getting used to, and not great for workouts, but I actually like this 1 - Sony - swipe for volume, slide for track selection, button for power, button for nc, tap+hold for assistant, cup for temporary transparency, speak to chat, press nc twice for spotify or whatever, press 3 times for another shortcut, head gestures, voice commands like hey headphones, pause
