Kayak fishing on Boone Lake, TN turned into something I did NOT expect… I was out throwing a swimbait, catching bass in the shallows, when suddenly I hooked into something way bigger. After an incredible fight from the kayak, it turned out to be a giant spring brown trout measuring 25.5 inches — one of the biggest trout I’ve ever caught from the kayak. Spring fishing can be unpredictable, and this is a perfect example of why you never know what’s going to hit your bait. Whether you’re targeting bass or just exploring new water, opportunities like this can happen on any cast. If you’re fishing lakes like Boone or other East Tennessee waters, this is a great reminder to always be ready for the unexpected.
