About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through exactly how I groom my doodle, Grayson, at home—without the stress and without spending hundreds of dollars at the salon every month. Winter is always the tipping point for us: the snow makes his fur wet, it starts matting, and he gets those annoying ice balls in his paws. So I show you my simple, step-by-step routine that’s beginner-friendly, and I’ll be real with you—if it’s your first time and it’s a train wreck, practice makes perfect and their hair will grow back. I break down the few tools I actually use and the blade lengths that keep your doodle looking cute (not like a vet-prep shave). I use the Wahl KMC cordless clippers with a 5FC blade for the body and a 7FC for legs and paws, plus the right scissors: bull-nose for safety, thinning scissors for the muzzle, and curved scissors for ears/feet/tail. I also cover the “non-negotiables” like fully bathing and fully drying (rinse the shampoo out or they’ll be itchy), keeping the dryer lukewarm, brushing properly by parting the coat to find mats, and taking breaks so the blades can cool down. By the end, I’m cleaning up the muzzle, rounding the paws, trimming between the pads to prevent ice balls, and finishing with a cute little lion tail—because yes, I get a little OCD about it.
