How To Edit Videos With Claude Code

I used Claude Code to edit a YouTube video through Tella's MCP server, without ever opening the Tella editor. Here is the full workflow, the result, and where it actually saves time. This is a real run from my own channel. I duplicated one of my raw recordings, edited the first copy by hand in Tella, then handed the second copy to Claude Code over Tella's Model Context Protocol integration and asked it to trim silences, cut filler words, fix obvious mistakes, and clean up the dead air. No timeline, no scrubbing, no clicking through every clip. Just natural language in a terminal. If you have not heard of MCP before, it is the standard that lets a tool like Claude reach into another app's data and actions. Tella shipped an MCP server, so Claude Code can read your transcript, find the rough edges, and write the cuts back into the project. The model never sees the pixels, it edits off the transcript, which turns out to be enough for the kind of cleanup most of us do every video. What you get from watching: the two install paths for the Tella MCP, the exact prompt I used in Claude Code, the silence floor setting I picked, how long the AI edit took (six minutes, 11 parallel sub-agents, 15 minutes of footage down to 11), how it compared to my 35 minute manual edit, and the honest verdict on speed vs quality. I am not a pro YouTuber. I am an occasional creator using AI to save time, and this is the kind of workflow that lets me actually keep shipping. Chapters 00:00:00 Intro: I record, I edit, and I lean on Tella 00:00:20 Tella has an MCP server (Claude does not, yet) 00:00:49 What MCP unlocks: edits without opening the editor 00:01:09 The experiment: me vs Claude Code on the same video 00:01:39 Two ways to install the Tella MCP 00:02:09 What I actually cut out of every recording 00:03:53 How Claude sees a video (spoiler: the transcript) 00:04:08 Running the edit and approving the plan 00:07:20 The result: 11 sub-agents, 15 minutes down to 11 00:07:54 Reviewing the AI edit: good, not great 00:08:41 The verdict: when MCP wins and when it loses 00:09:45 Editing it myself: 35 minutes, more control 00:10:36 My new workflow and wrap up #ClaudeCode #TellaMCP #AIVideoEditing #MCP #AI #VideoEditing #Anthropic #contentcreationjourney - I am not affiliated with Anthropic or Tella.
