LIVE AQUASCAPING 🌿

About This Video

I went LIVE for a nano aquascaping session (and recorded it at the same time) because it’s been a while since I last did a proper live scape. For this build, I had an idea: a bamboo aquarium setup. The whole concept is simple—bamboo sticks as the main highlight, plus some nice stones I picked up from the aquarium shop (about $15 SGD for 3kg). I started with Tropica aqua soil and shaped it into an upward slope towards the back, because that’s how you create depth in a small tank. After laying the hardscape, I placed the bamboo sticks randomly (it doesn’t have to be symmetrical) and then did the important part: making sure the bamboo won’t float when the tank is filled. I used super glue with precision tips (from Daiso) and cotton pads as a bonding “media” between the bamboo and rocks. You’ll see the bonding smoke up—just don’t inhale the fumes, and please ventilate your room. For planting, I used a mix of foreground, midground, and background plants: Lilaeopsis brasiliensis in the front, Blyxa japonica, Juncus repens (first time for me), hair grass, and a new stem plant for me—Limnophila aquatica. The scape already looks clean before it even grows in, and I’ll be checking back in a few weeks once everything settles and fills out.
