No matter how nice the “aesthetic laptop life” looks, sometimes you just want an actual workstation to get things done. In this video, I put together a bright, cozy, inviting desk setup that’s intentionally the complete opposite of my usual dark and moody preference—because this one’s for Rosie. The goal was simple: minimal items on the desk, clean lines, and a space that feels warm to sit at for hours. The centerpiece is the FlexiSpot E7 standing desk with a 182cm bamboo top. I go through the features that actually matter day-to-day: four height presets, a safety feature, and a dual-motor frame that feels genuinely sturdy (161kg capacity). I also share how I handled cable management (a basic drilled power board underneath) and why the E7 was the smoothest build experience I’ve had compared to desks I’ve tried from Omnidesk and Desky. From there, I break down the rest of the setup: an ultrawide Dell monitor that doubles as a docking station (one Thunderbolt cable and you’re done), an M1 MacBook Pro on a stand, Edifier MR4 speakers on angled stands, and a Journey ALTI desk mat that hides papers and wirelessly charges your phone and AirPods. Finally, I tie it together with cozy lighting (Nanoleaf glow + IKEA lamps + Xiaomi light bar), greenery, hand-painted wall art, and IKEA storage to balance the space visually and functionally.
