About This Video

I headed out to an oceanfront spot in the Canadian wilderness during freezing rain and snow—everything was basically encrusted in ice. Instead of the rooftop tent, I tucked the hot tent into a wooded area with an ocean view and turned it into an absolute haven. The goal was simple: heat, coffee, and staying dry while the mist off the ocean tried to soak everything. Once the stove was rocking, the whole setup became home—roomy, warm, and perfect for riding out nasty weather. A big part of this trip was firewood and time management. I used the chainsaw because I’m not out here to waste all my daylight breaking my back—this is my everyday life, living off-grid and constantly dealing with wood, weather, and camp logistics. After a walk on the beach with those moody waves, I cooked up steak on the wood stove, dried out soaked gear, and got the sleep system dialed. Even when it dropped to around -8°C with wind chill, the tent stayed warm and comfortable. In the morning it was crisp, coffee was on, and it was time to pack up and hit the road to the next location in the series.
