It’s cold outside but the fire keeps us, so I snuck up to my third floor attic to film my “what I got my kids for Christmas” video while I had a little time (one kid tracked out at camp, the other in preschool). My goal every year is to grab things on sale (hello, Prime Day and Target deals) and get gifts that will actually get used and grow with them. For my son, I leaned hard into what he’s obsessed with right now: Legos (Star Wars, Minecraft, Pokémon), Transformers, and football. I show games like Marvel Spot It and the classic Perfection (Maddie picked that one for him), a few Lego sets with the set numbers, fun add-ons like a Pokémon watch (no games—just time/timer because that’s all he needs at school), and some football gear that makes playing outside easier even when it gets dark early (like the GlowCity light-up football). For my daughter, the big themes were Barbie, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Disney princess vibes, and of course Taylor Swift—because she’s my little Swifty girly and sings basically 24/7.
