story time: how i almost quit competing ❤️‍🩹🛼 #rollerskating #mentalhealthmatters

i almost quit competing this year. after my anxiety got the best of me at the us national championships last year, i genuinely thought i wasn’t cut out for this sport anymore. but something in me said— even if you’re scared, do it anyway. 🛼✨ so here i am, back again at my first artistic roller skating competition of the season at cal skate, grand terrace. aside from working on my skating skills, i knew i had to work on my mental health this year. i knew if i wanted different results, i had to show up differently. i stopped pretending my nerves didn’t exist - and started learning how to work with them. i was a little nervous, but i also felt calm and grounded. i knew this wasn’t luck — this was my preparation paying off. my first event was creative duet 13+ with my skate bestie crystal! 💖 we’ve never done duet before, and learning pair moves — especially on quads — has been a challenge, but so much fun. we skated to a survivor medley as 2 tomb raiders. and we ended up raiding that gold… because we got 1st place!! 🥷🪦💰🥇 then it was time to skate my solo: open b creative solo.i performed as marie antoinette 👑 and this character fits my style so well — special thanks to my mom for making my costume 🎀🩰✨ when it was my turn, i didn’t aim for perfection - I skated with heart, and focused on putting on a show. and i left the floor proud. not because everything went right - but because i didn’t give up. and to my biggest surprise… i ended up getting 1st place again 🥹 with some of the highest scores i’ve ever gotten 🥇🏆 if you’re someone who’s been struggling with self-doubt or performance anxiety… let this be your sign: you can come back stronger and find joy again in your sport. this is just the beginning — i’m excited for what’s next 💫 #rollerskater #artisticrollerskating #skatergirl #mentalhealthjourney #performanceanxiety #anxietyisreal #marieantoinette #rollerskating #rollergirl #rollergirls #artisticinlineskating #rollerfigureskating #rollerblades #inlineskate #competitions #figureskater #adultskater #tombraidercosplay #laracroft #laracroftcosplay #laracrofttombraider #coquettegirl
