Well… I officially got told to stop filming at Home Depot, and it was honestly so unexpected because I film big box plant shopping all the time. I went in on a full self-care day vibe—stacking my chores, doing my skincare, and then ending it with my favorite part: plant therapy. I still got to show you a ton of what Home Depot had (and they were seriously hitting it out of the park): anthuriums, holiday cactus, gorgeous succulents, hoyas, big philodendrons like gloriosum, and some really good sale finds like squamiferum and atabapoense that I totally would’ve grabbed on my $30 budget. After the awkward Home Depot moment, I headed to Lowe’s to keep the good vibes going—and Lowe’s did not disappoint. I found a brand new-to-me Scindapsus ‘Mount Salak’ that I had to rave about because Scindapsus are some of my all-time favorite, easygoing plants. They’re thick-leaved, drought tolerant, can handle lower-ish light, and they literally tell you when they’re thirsty by curling their leaves. I stayed under budget for once (she’s $20!), and I shared my best tips for bringing new plants home—like washing them off, doing pest prevention, and repotting when you see roots popping out of the pot.
