About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing more 6th grade book reviews from Maggie, and this one is all about what’s actually working for her as she’s growing as a reader. We talk through the series she’s been finishing up, what kept her turning pages, and how it feels when you go from being a once-reluctant reader to someone who’s genuinely excited to pick up the next book. I love doing these reviews because it gives you a real look at what a middle schooler is enjoying—without me trying to overcomplicate it. If you’re homeschooling a 6th grader and you’re trying to figure out what kinds of books might click (especially if your child has been hesitant with reading), these kinds of updates are so helpful. My biggest takeaway is that momentum matters—finding a series your child connects with can be the difference between dragging through reading and actually building confidence. I’m also sharing this from the lens of our homeschool life, where I’m always paying attention to what’s helping my girls grow in comprehension, stamina, and enjoyment, not just checking off a list.
