This one was a “Nikki vs. the elements” kind of build day. I’m working solo on Part 8 of our bus build—getting the walls moving forward—and of course the weather decided to add a little spice. Hail, wind, the whole dramatic situation… and I still had to figure out how to keep materials dry, keep momentum, and not spiral when things get harder than they should be. If you’ve ever tried to build anything outside (or inside a metal bus that basically amplifies chaos), you’ll get it. The big takeaway is honestly mindset: building alone forces you to problem-solve in real time and test your limits, but it also shows you what you’re capable of when you keep going anyway. I share the real wins and the real fails—because that’s the deal with DIY bus life. We’re making progress on the wall phase, and even though it’s not always pretty, the hard work is paying off and the bus is starting to feel more like a tiny home and less like a project that’s trying to humble us daily.
