In this video, I’m showing you how to use Descript for automatic transcription, step by step. Descript is an all-in-one software that can handle automatic transcriptions, podcast audiograms, screen recordings, overdub voice synthesis, and even video editing. I also like it as a collaboration tool because you can invite other people to join your project and work together as a team. I call it one of the most advanced tools I’ve ever seen, and I’ll first walk you through how to download and install it on Windows or Mac, then sign in or create a new account. After that, I jump into the Descript project manager, create a fresh project, and import an audio file (drag-and-drop or using the plus button). I show you how speaker detection works, how to label speakers, and how Descript generates the transcript in a few minutes. The big takeaway is that Descript edits like a Word document—cut, copy, paste, delete—and your text edits can also affect the audio/video. If you only want to fix transcript mistakes without changing the audio, I show you how to use correction mode. Finally, I demonstrate removing filler words (in Pro) to get a clean, website-ready transcript and then export it as a text file.
