Really annoying start to this one because the stream tech decided to drop my sound, but anyway—we’re back. In this video I’m doing a full teardown and redo of my drink dispenser “tank” because it’s turned into the nastiest algae swamp you’ve ever seen. I’m talking slimy, squelchy, bottom-of-a-lake vibes—so bad my red root floaters (which people usually look up to me for) got completely obliterated. I start by pulling as many plants as I can before stressing fish and shrimp, and yeah… it’s always sad binning plants you paid good money for, but you can’t risk transferring algae into clean tanks. Once I’ve cleared space, I drain water and start the fun part: catching livestock. There are three killifish in there and a bunch of snowball shrimp still kicking, plus an annoying bladderwort infestation (that chainy carnivorous stuff) that I’m not a fan of. I also pull out gear and hardscape—wood, rocks, hairgrass, rotala—and save what I can, like my Anubias nana petite, which I’ll try to recover in an immersed setup. The big takeaway: when a tank is this far gone, you’ve got to be ruthless, work methodically, and prioritize saving livestock and any plants worth quarantining.
