Bucket water changes are a pain in the ass, and I genuinely don’t have time for the back-and-forth schlepping. In this video I run through the Hygger bucket-free water changer—what it is, what you get in the kit, and exactly how I set it up in my fish room. I’ve been using this style of automatic water change setup for about 3 years, and with six tanks in this room alone it’s the difference between losing 3–4 hours to maintenance vs knocking it over in about 30–45 minutes. I show you the full process: draining water out (including the little trick to purge the air by running the tap hard first), optional gravel vacuuming, then filling the tank back up while you dial in temperature at the tap. I also cover my main “gotcha” with this system—faucet fitment—because my indoor tap needed an extra rubber push-on adapter to make it work properly. Once that’s sorted, it’s basically sunshine and roses: faster water changes, less mess, and way more time to actually enjoy the tanks.
