About This Video

In this video I review the Kiwi Ears Aether, a $170 single planar IEM with a huge 15.3mm driver and multi-layer N52 magnets. I go through the unboxing (pretty standard Kiwi Ears presentation, pouch included, plus 9 pairs of tips), then talk build and comfort. The shells are large to fit that driver, with a greyish-black faceplate and purple glitter under a silver bezel, plus vents near the 2-pin connector. Comfort ended up being good for me, but I had to tip-roll—stock tips usually don’t work with my ear canal angle on most Kiwi Ears sets, and SpinFit W1 finally gave me a proper seal on the Aether. On measurements and tuning, the Aether comes across as a v-shape that still tracks Harman fairly closely through the mids, with a mid-bass boost for punch and a notable dip around 4–5k to keep the treble from getting fatiguing. Listening-wise, the big takeaway is how effortless and detailed it sounds: super resolving, quick transients, and clean without being harsh. The bass is snappy and extends low, but it won’t slam like a dynamic driver, and isolation is below average because of the vents. If you listen to jazz, classical, or well-recorded live instruments, the Aether’s wide, open stage and natural instrument rendering are the reasons I think it’s genuinely underrated at this price.
